FIDM Exhibit Review

You too can own one of those fabulous (or bizarre) gowns seen at the Oscar ceremonies! AMPAS has teamed up with Vogue and Christie's auction house to sell 54 of the more famous gowns from previous Academy Awards ceremonies, from an Edith Head-designed violet ball gown for Elizabeth Taylor to the frock made of American Express cards designed and worn by Lizzie Gardiner to accept her statuette for The Adventures of Priscilla, Queen of the Desert (that's the one I want!). Some of the gowns are on display at Christie's and Barneys New York in Beverly Hills, and a catalogue for the March 18th auction is available from Christie's.
